Gaudí Eyewear was a contest organized by the company Òptim in which the main goal was to design a frame inspired by Gaudí´s work to celebrate the Gaudí Year, an event held in Barcelona in 2002 to commemorate his magnificent and inspiring work.
Design of a frame without using the typical design resources often used in souvenirs like cracked mosaics or dragons.
The result was a frame inspired by the extraordinary geometrical work of Gaudí’s architecture that can be observed in the ceiling of the schools placed in the iconic religious temple called Sagrada Familia. Antoni Gaudí was a passionate of the geometry found in nature and spent his life studying and applying it to his own designs. It is because of this that I decided to use one of these geometrical resources, the conical surface, to design and develop the final product.
